CE 492 Final Year Project - Thesis Defense

Our senior students at the Department of Civil Engineering, Paragon International University, have proudly completed their final milestoneβ€”presenting the results of their Final Year Projects.

Water Content Test

CE 331 – Soil Mechanics and Lab
The Water Content Test is conducted to measure the moisture content of soil. The moisture content is defined as the percentage ratio of the mass of water present in the soil to the mass of the dry soil.

Atterberng Limit Test

CE 331 – Soil Mechanics and Lab
The Atterberg Limit Test is used to determine the liquid limit (LL) and plastic limit (PL) of fine-grained soils. These values help classify the soil based on its flexibility and how it behaves when the moisture content changes. This is important for construction, as it provides insights into the soil’s suitability and stability for building projects

Hydrometer Test

The hydrometer test is used to determine the particle size distribution of fine-grained soils, particularly those with small particles such as silt and clay. This test provides insights into the soil’s gradation and its classification for engineering purposes.

Spaghetti Bridge Challenge

ENGR 101- Intro to Engineering
Freshman Civil Engineering students at Paragon University put their skills to the test in a thrilling Spaghetti Bridge Competition, combining creativity, precision, and engineering principles to build the strongest pasta structures!

Group III Mini Steel Bridge Project

CE471 – Advanced Steel Design – Mini Bridge Construction Project
This Mini Steel Bridge project serves as an example of how to combine structural efficiency, advanced steel design approaches, and useful problem-solving abilities. With careful design, accurate construction, and thorough testing, we were able to build a bridge that could support heavy loads while staying within safety and dimensional requirements.

Group II Mini Steel Bridge Project

CE471 – Advanced Steel DesignΒ
The Mini Steel Bridge project demonstrated how design concepts can be successfully applied in practice despite challenges like limited welding skills and equipment. The team overcame these constraints to create an optimized, structurally sound bridge that passed load testing, proving the effectiveness of their methods

Group I Mini Steel Bridge Project

CE471 – Advance Steel Design
The design and analysis of the steel mini-bridge were conducted with precision, resulting in a structure that balances aesthetic appeal and structural reliability. By adhering to specified dimensions and creatively optimizing the design, the team successfully constructed a bridge capable of supporting significant loads until 17.92kN while remaining within acceptable deflection limits at mid-span around 9.72mm.

Surveying Field Activities - Total Station

CE 321-Surveying
Department of Civil Engineering’s junior practiced setting up and calibrating the total station at the Paragon parking lots. Total Station machine could possibly deliver an accurate result of the horizontal and slope distance from the machine to the particular point, plus elevation. It also provides the difference in elevation between the BM (where the machine stands) and that specific point.

Survey Field Activities - Auto Level Machine

CE 321 – Surveying

The leveling process was conducted at the survey site at Lion Park near the 7 Makara Flyover Bridge, aimed at transferring and verifying elevations across the area.Β

Mini Steel Bridge Project

🚧 Welcome to CE 471 – Advanced Steel Design! 🚧
Our Steel Mini Bridge Design Project lets students put theory into practice by building a steel bridge that maximizes load while staying under a 10mm deflection limit. This hands-on challenge is a powerful step toward real-world engineering! πŸŒ‰πŸ‘·β€β™‚οΈπŸ‘·β€β™€οΈ.

Concrete Casting and Testing

Introducing to CE 340 – Reinforced Concrete Structure Course!πŸ‘·πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ
In this course, Students learned the importance of concrete in structure and also had a chance to do real practice related to concrete mixing and casting!🌟

Modified Proctor Hammer Test

On December 24th, 2023, our junior students conducted the Modified Proctor Hammer Test in the Civil Engineering Lab. This test is part of our CE331 – Soil Mechanics and Labs course, supervised by Mr. Ranysakol Thoun. Great job, everyone!

Sieve Analysis Test

✨On December 5th, 2023, our Civil Engineering juniors tackled the sieve analysis experiment, a crucial part of our CE-331 Soil Mechanics and Labs course. Guided by Mr. Ranysakol Thoun in our brand new engineering laboratory, they embraced practical learning with enthusiasm. 🌟

Annual Spaghetti Bridge Challenge

πŸŒ‰πŸ Calling all engineering enthusiasts! Witness the incredible feats of our freshman civil engineering students from the academic year 2023-2024 in our annual Spaghetti Bridge Challenge!

πŸŽ‰ Under the guidance of Mr. Mengleang Lay, our talented students crafted bridges using only spaghetti and glue, pushing the limits of strength and creativity.Β
